This past week, I spent several days at the annual CASE V (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) conference that was held in downtown Chicago. It also marked my first year as a volunteer for the conference; and I must say I really like it!
I enjoyed stepping outside of my box and meeting other higher education professionals that work in the same area of advancement and communications. It was great to network and receive informationf from colleagues that are experiencing the same challenges and accolades as we here at Midwestern University.
This year, Midwestern University received the Best Institutional Web Site at the Pride of CASE V Awards Program. This was a competition among all the schools in the District V of CASE (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio).
In addition to the networking I did, I attended several sessions presented by other higher education colleagues on "Why Twitter Matters" and It's the End of the Web as We Know it". The sessions focuses were on the future changes the web will impact higher education and how we communicate with our prospects and alumni. It was all very interesting. In fact, I've been motivated to do a little bit more research in the area of social networking and other areas to help build Midwestern University's web site. Hopefully, it will lead to positive changes for us.
