Health Professions Career Day a Success

Posted April 30, 2009

With nearly 300 guests on the Downers Grove Campus, the official spring open house was a smashing success! As the registration line extended out the entrance doors of Littlejohn Hall, I was both excited and aghast at the possibility that may of these people may soon walk the campus of Midwestern University as students embarking towards a career in health care. All the guests were welcomed by the Director of Admissions, Michael Laken and given the opportunity to meet specifically with the faculty of their programs of interest. The representatives from the medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, biomedicial sciences and clinical psychology presented information sessions detailing admission prerequisites, curriculum, graduation requirements, and etc., on the programs offered at Midwestern University.

Furthermore, guests on that day were given a student-led campus tour of the academic and student life buildings; it's not everyday you get the opportunity to tour an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Lab. This lab is used for the extensive OMM training our medical students receive during the first and second years in the program. The campus tour groups were led to the physical therapy and occupational therapy labs, as well.

Our Downers Grove, Illinois campus, with 105 acres boasting innovative facilities, nestles serenely in a wooded setting 25 miles west of downtown Chicago.
