On Friday, May 28th, the colleges of Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) and the College of Health Sciences (CHS) held their graduation ceremonies on the Downers Grove Campus in Littlejohn Hall.
CHS was the first with the morning ceremony, graduating students in the programs of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Biomedical Sciences, and Clinical
Psychology. Just over 100 graduates and their families enjoyed the sunny weather. And me, you could find me running all over campus making sure that the location where where the graduates were taking their graduate portraits was set up. Its funny, we use these two-way radios to communicate with members of Security, our audio/visual team, and maintenance; and at some point my radio died. I was literally hottailing all over campus double-checking that details were all set. In fact, as the ceremony ended, I realized that I had received the call that lunch arrived. So with my flats (a rarity, ask anyone) I scurried across campus to the Commons to see if lunch arrived. Once it finally arrived, I thought, "whew, this day is not going to bad".
Heading back to the auditorium, I saw that the Office of
Admissions was conducting Summer Campus Tours and I'm thinking, not a great day when they are over 1000 guests for each ceremony all around campus. Needless to say, around the corner from me as this thought entered my mind, was what appeared to be a guest to Midwestern University looking for his way to the Office of Admissions. I plastered a smile and directed him to the proper entrance, and when this man took off his sunglasses, I gasped saying, "I know you". He responds, "Yeah, I was on a TV show".
How cool!
Once I jumped off my cloud, I realized that we still had a second ceremony to get through!
