The White Coat Magic

Posted October 05, 2011

There is a mystique about the white coat; its appearance gives off the confidence and power to the individual wearing the coat. And because of that, I take a lot of pride in planning the White Coat Ceremony each year. This fact may be overlooked by many, but as the summer months roll around and the first set of students matriculate, I prepare to help each student choose the appropriate size coat for the upcoming year.

In addition, I plan the ceremony at an off-campus location each year and regardless of the challenges that are presented with those details; I thoroughly enjoy seeing the students and their family & friends excited about the official coating that takes place before all.

This year we included the inaugural class of the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois to the cermony, joining the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chicago College of Pharmacy, and College of Health Sciences.
