CCP Hosts Summer Alumni Bowling Event

Posted July 20, 2007

Last evening, the Alumni Council of the Chicago College of Pharmacy hosted its annual summer social event for alumni and students. More than 50 alumni and friends gathered at Seven Ten Lanes in Elmhurst for a night of bowling and friendly competition.

Every year, the CCP Alumni Council plans interesting summer gatherings. One year they had a picnic at the zoo; another time they played bocce ball and enjoyed Italian food; and yet another event featured Whirlyball. This year's bowling event found a few alumni with their own shoes and bowling balls (Mark and Sue!), and quite a few gutter balls. But, all in all, the group had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates while supporting the College.

CCP is blessed with a strong group of alumni leaders who are committed to the ongoing success of the College and to planning great opportunities for alumni to reconnect. The pharmacy profession is close-knit, and our students have benefitted from being able to network with alumni and preceptors for employment and other leadership positions. Our alumni are truly committed to enriching the clinical experiences for CCP students, and many of them serve as preceptors at their practice sites. As more CCP alumni graduate and enter the profession world of pharmacy, the reputation of the College continues to expand.

CCP Dean Nancy Fjortoft, Ph.D., joined the group with her bowling shoes, and Vice President & CAO for Pharmacy & Health Science Education Mary Lee, Pharm.D., also came out to mingle with the alumni. While I did not stay to bowl, I always enjoy the chance to say hi to our dedicated pharmacy alumni and to meet new alumni who come out for these events. My thanks to the alumni staff for planning another successful and fun event.
