The Glendale Campus recently hosted the second annual Alumni Homecoming Picnic, which featured the AZCOM Class of 2000's 10-year reunion.
About one-third of the inaugural class of the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine returned to Glendale to reconnect with each other and the University. Led by a planning committee of 12 alumni leaders, the AZCOM group came back to campus to see all the changes that had taken place in the last 10 years. And while they were somewhat jealous to see that current students now have a cafeteria and an indoor recreation center, they also were reminded of how special their experiences were as the first students in the new college.

The picnic was enjoyed by alumni from all of the University's colleges and all class years. A "bounce house" was the highlight for the kids, with special face painting and other games coordinated by current MWU students. With traditional BBQ fare, alumni were able to find old friends and take tours of campus.

Later that evening, the AZCOM reunion moved to the Westin, where a formal dinner was held. Alumni were welcomed by MWU President Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., and were led in a champagne toast by inaugural Dean James W. Cole, D.O. Faculty, alumni, and preceptors were on hand to thank this inaugural class for taking the chance to come to a new school and for setting a high bar for achievement for all the classes who followed them.
Special thanks to Karen Ewing, MWU's Manager for Alumni Relations, who planned every detail of the reunion and homecoming picnic and who executed every detail to perfection. It was a wonderful weekend and all the alumni who participated had a great time. They still do and always will make us very proud!
