Recently, the MWU Alumni Senate held its annual Fall meeting at our Glendale Campus to coincide with our 10th Anniversary Celebration. The Alumni Senate includes representatives of each of our colleges from both of our campuses. This Alumni Senate truly reflects a quality that makes MWU unique--a group of diverse health care professionals working together as a team. This year, the Senate is chaired by an alum of our Chicago College of Pharmacy, Dr. Ed Cohen; the vice chair is a CCOM alum, Dr. Pamela Georgeson. The Senate also includes representatives from AZCOM, CPG, CHS-Downers Grove, and CHS-Glendale. The mission of this alumni body is to provide a forum for networking and sharing between the various alumni councils and associations. CCOM is our founding college and has a highly organized and experienced Alumni Association. These alumni have served as great mentors and resources to our younger alumni, who are working to establish activities and events for their own constituents. We realize that our alumni will always be primarily loyal and attached to their college alumni organization. However, we also want to foster a sense of camaraderie and fellowship around the University as a whole. The Alumni Senate serves to meet this goal and to build strong relationships between all of our alumni. The Senate is now working to develop a "signature" program, focusing on either a health fair event or a multidisciplinary CME/CE program for all alumni. This group has great energy and commitment to the University. While we were in Arizona for the meeting, we had a great dinner at the Different Pointe of View restaurant at the Pointe Tapatio Cliffs Resort (I'd highly recommend it for a special night out). Members spent their free time hiking, going to the spa, and enjoyed the gorgeous Arizona fall weather. We all then attended the Glendale Bright Lights, Shining Stars event. It was a great weekend.
I think many prospective students learn about MWU from our alumni. Do any of you have an interesting story about our alumni and how they may have inspired you to pursue your career goal or consider MWU?
