Happy New Year! Here at MWU, we are looking forward to many new things in the coming year. Here are just a few highlights:
Downers Grove
- Ground will be broken on the new Basic Science Building this February. This new five-story facility will feature new classrooms, labs, and faculty offices and will be ready for students in the spring of 2010.
- We hope to gain approval for our new Doctor of Health Sciences Program soon. This degree is designed for practicing PTs and OTs who are looking for a doctoral degree to teach or for advanced clinical practice.
- We will increase the size of CCOM to 200 students this coming August, to meet the physician shortages in the state of Illinois and nationally.
Glendale
- We have already received preliminary accreditation for our new Arizona College of Optometry and are accepting applications for Fall 2009, when we will welcome our inaugural class.
- We hope to gain approval for our new Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, which is slated to open in June 2010.
- With Glendale Hall and the new Auditorium both completed, we look forward to the new Recreation & Wellness Hall this spring and the new Interfaith Chapel later this Fall. Construction will also begin on a new parking deck and the new clinic buildings for dentistry and optometry.
We are also anxiously planning the launch of our new web site in February. Final content is being migrated and technical preparations are being made. This will be the culmination of more than two years of research, planning, and execution. Stay tuned, I think you will like it. And you will hear a giant sigh of relief from me when this is all done at last!
To all of our students, faculty/staff, alumni, and applicants, here is to a year of ongoing success and accomplishment. Happy 2009!
