"Get it @ MWU" Help

How do I use the "Get it @ MWU" button? As you are searching in one of Midwestern University Library's databases that uses "Get it @MWU", the button will appear in the citations you find. All you need to do is click on the "Get it @ MWU" button. Clicking on the button will open up a new internet browser window on your computer and present a menu of available services related to the specific citation you are viewing. Depending on the citation you have selected, this menu will display links that will enable you to; link directly to the full text of the article if the library has a subscription, check the library online catalog for the availability of the print journal in the library, check the library electronic journal A-Z list, place an interlibrary loan request via the ILLiad system, or export your citation to Endnote or Reference Manager software.

Does the display of the "Get it @ MWU" button mean Midwestern University Libraries own full text for an article? The "Get it @ MWU" button means that MWU Libraries provide at least one option to enable you to obtain a given full text article. The options include a link to the full text article if we have a subscription, a link to the MWU online catalog to search the availability of the print journal, a link to search the journal A-Z list and a link to ordering an item via the ILLiad online interlibrary loan/document delivery system.

What if I cannot access the article full text ? The full text of an article is not always available online electronically, with the most common reasons either being, because the journal publisher or online content provider does not make it available, or because the Midwesern University Libraries does not currently subscribe to the material. If you want to obtain the full text of an article for which there is no electronic full text link on the resolver menu, "Get it @ MWU" will always present a link on the menu to order the citation via "Document Delivery" from Midwestern University Libraries interlibrary loan requesting system ILLiad. Click on the menu "Document Delivery" link and a window will pop up displaying the citation to be ordered, if the item looks correct click on the "Submit" button on this citation display window and you will be directed to the ILLiad login web page, where you should login with your ILLiad user name and password. ILLiad will log you in and have an "Article Request" form already filled in with the citation data for the article you are ordering. You only need to review the ILLiad request form, add any special notes or billing details and then click "Submit Request" button and your request will be sent to the ILLiad system.

In which databases will the "Get it @ MWU" button appear? Currently the "Get it @ MWU" button will appear in PubMed, Web of Knowledge, EbscoHost and Ovid databases which are purchased by Midwestern University Libraries.

Why does clicking on the "Get it @ MWU" button take me to the journal and not the article? Journal publishers and online content aggregators control whether we are able to link directly to the full text article. Some full text providers are not designed to link all the way to the article level, and in these cases the link will only take you to the journal level and you must navigate from this location to the specific full text article you are attempting to access. The "Get it @ MWU" link resolver will drop you off as close as possible to the full text of an article.

Why is there more than one full text option for some articles? Midwestern University Libraries in some cases have access to the electronic full text for a journal from more than one provider, and when this is the case we provide multiple links to each provider of the online full text. One benefit of having extra full text links is that if one provider happens to be temporarily unavailable you can access the full text from another provider.

Can "Get it @ MWU" service be used off campus? Yes provided you login with your Midwestern email or campus login. When you are off campus and you connect to library resources through the Midwestern login process, and you use library databases that use the "Get it @ MWU" button, the links to full text that you are presented with should connect you to the full text of the article. In some cases you may be prompted to sign with your Midwestern login a second time by the full text provider after clicking on a full text link.

What happens if I click the "Modify Search" link on the "Get it @ MWU" resolver menu? The "Modify Search" button will open up a citation finder tool which allows you to review the citation data that is currently being used to search the "Get it @ MWU" knowledge base of Midwestern University Library resources. You can enter different or additional information and re-do your search of "Get it @ MWU" in order to obtain new search results.
