Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove
Building on a century of compassionate medical education, Midwestern University's Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) has been educating osteopathic physicians and surgeons since 1900. Our more than 6,000 graduates serve in hospitals, medical schools, private practices, and government facilities across the country. And we continue to provide almost 13 percent of osteopathic physicians and surgeons practicing in the United States today.
The training in osteopathic medicine you receive at MWU is rigorous — over 96 percent of typical CCOM graduates pass the COMLEX Part I Exam the first time. Because Midwestern's reputation precedes you, our clinical partners welcome you into outstanding rotations, internships, and residencies throughout the city, state, and country. In 2007, CCOM graduates' match rate into first- or second-choice residencies was 79 percent, far surpassing the national match rate of 68 percent.
Nearly 165 D.O.s graduate from CCOM each year, and your future patients appreciate what you learn at MWU. After all, your compassion, caring, skill, and service contribute to their well-being.
The Costin Institute for Osteopathic Medical Educators offers postgraduate training for osteopathic physicians who want to become more effective medical educators.
CCOM also sponsors an annual Mini-Medical School open to community members who are interested in personal and public health issues.
