Jewel/Osco-Chicago College of Pharmacy Career Explorers Program

Students completing their junior and senior high school year may apply to participate in an intensive six-week summer program. These programs consist of organized, hands-on activities in which the student functions as a pharmacy technician at various Walgreens or Jewel/Osco pharmacies and takes a short course in pharmacy-related topics on the campus of Midwestern University. These programs are designed to prepare students to be successful pharmacy technicians, allow students to explore various career opportunities in community pharmacy, link students to mentors who will provide career counseling in this health professional field, and provide information and guidance to prepare students for pharmacy education.

The Walgreens & Jewel/Osco programs accept 25 students each, so the application process is competitive.
