The course is offered on the campus of Midwestern University, Downers Grove, IL. The campus is conveniently located 35 miles west of Chicago off I-88. A map and detailed driving directions will be sent to you upon our receipt of your registration.

Upon receipt of registration materials, the College will send each participant a confirmation of registration, directions to the campus, and local hotel information.

Refund Policy: Refunds, less a $50.00 cancellation fee, will be issued for written requests received by the college one week prior to the class. No refund will be issued after this date for nonattendance.

Faculty

The faculty team collectively have many years of experience teaching pharmacy students and preparing students for successful practice.

Shridhar V. Andurkar received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Poona, India in 1987. He attended graduate school in Medicinal Chemistry at the Auburn University School of Pharmacy, Auburn, AL, and received the M.S. degree in 1991 and the Ph.D. in 1996. He joined the University of Houston, Department of Chemistry, Houston, TX, as a postdoctoral fellow in 1996 and is currently Department Chair and Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy. Shridhar has well over 14 years of experience teaching Chemistry. While at Auburn, he taught courses in organic, general, and analytical chemistry at the undergraduate level. At the University of Houston, he taught organic chemistry at the sophomore and junior levels. At the Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, Shridhar teaches courses in Medicinal Chemistry to professional pharmacy students. He has received numerous teaching awards while at Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, including the prestigous Golden Apple Award.

Gerald A. Griffith has been teaching Biology at the college level for over a decade. He received his Master's of Science degree in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Chicago and his Bachelor's of Science degree in Life Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Life Sciences Department at South Suburban College. He has developed and taught courses in general biology, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and environmental biology. He has worked with educators in a variety of settings on improving teaching techniques in the life sciences.

Daniel Kies is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, holding a BA in English, an MA in English Linguistics, and a Ph.D. in English Linguistics with an emphasis on Modern English grammar, stylistics, and theoretical and applied linguistics. He has been teaching English at the college level for over twenty years. Dr. Kies is currently a Professor of English and Linguistics at the College of DuPage. He has taught at the College of DuPage since 1986 and has twice been honored as an Outstanding Faculty of the Year. Dr. Kies has presented at numerous international educational forums and is well published. His recent professional interests lie in the areas of hypertext, new media, and education.

Sandra Marguerite Gollin Kies holds an MA in Linguistics from Sydney University, Sydney, Australia and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Dr. Gollin Kies has expertise in Collaborative Writing, TESOL Curriculum, Teaching English as a Foregin Language, and Systematic Functional Grammar. She has over twenty years of college-level teaching experience in the area of English. Most recently, Sandra was a Senior Lecturer for the Learning Skills Unit/Student Support Services at the University of Western Sydney. Dr. Gollin Kies has presented at numerous national and international conferences and is well published.

Elisabeth Knowlton has been teaching Mathematics and Statistics at the college level since 1991. In 1993, she received her Master's of Science in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University. Her teaching assignments encompass all levels of mathematics courses, from remedial math to calculus and statistics. She passed actuarial examinations 100, 110, and 120. She worked at the Allstate Reinsurance Corporation as an Actuarial Analyst and at Abbott Laboratories as a Statistical Consultant. Elisabeth has attended and taught numerous workshops and graduate courses, and she has presented at various educational forums.

1. What is the deadline for registration?

The deadline for late registration is two weeks before the class (i.e., the deadline for registration for 2009 is Friday, April 24, 2009 or Friday, July 17, 2009).

NOTE: Late registrants pay a higher fee. Therefore, we encourage students to register by the standard registration deadline dates.

2. Do I get a refund if I cancel my registration?

Yes. Refunds are given, less a $50.00 processing fee, if the request is made in writing and is requested one week prior to the course date.

3. Can I register for just the biology section or any other individual section?

No, we do not allow partial registration. However, if you register for the course, you may attend all or part of the course.

4. Can I buy the book separately from the course?

No. The course consists of live lectures and a printed, detailed course outline. Practice test questions are included in the study packet.
