Physician Assistant Studies in Downers Grove
Midwestern University Physician Assistant (PA) students become exceptional physician assistants. Our physician assistant graduates have consistently passed the PA national certifying examination at a rate significantly above the national average: 100% of the graduates in 2008 passed the examination on their first attempt. Our graduates practice in a wide variety of specialties. Approximately one half of the 2007 graduates practice in primary care, another quarter practice in general surgery or surgical subspecialties, and another quarter practice in medical subspecialties. The average reported annual starting salary of the 2007 graduates was $73,000.
At MWU, your rigorous physician assistant program includes education in the basic sciences, clinical medicine, physical examination, evidence-based practice, and professional issues. The clinical training includes core rotations in surgery, internal medicine, emergency medicine, behavioral medicine, family medicine, geriatric medicine, pediatric medicine, and women's health, and elective rotations in a variety of diverse settings. The PA Program provides community service and professional leadership opportunities, and strives to create compassionate providers who will provide excellent medical care.
