The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is a federally subsidized
student employment program. The program is offered to needy students as an alternative to high interest
loans.
Students are employed under the FWS program work on-campus in a
wide variety of jobs or off-campus in a community service position.
For the 2006-2007 academic year student employees are paid at the
rate of $8.00 per hour for regular federal work study and $10.00
per hour for community service. Students may work up to 20 hours
per week while school is in session and 40 hours per week during
school breaks.
Interest in participating in the FWS program should be indicated
by selecting "1" or "3" on question #26 on the
2007-08 FAFSA application. Eligible students will automatically
be awarded between $1,000 and $3,000 to earn in FWS during the award
year. Students wanting to earn more should contact a financial aid
administrator to determine additional eligibility. Only those students
who are eligible for FWS may apply for FWS positions.
