Podiatric Medicine is an independent health profession licensed
to provide the complete scope of care for disorders of the foot
and ankle. Podiatrists utilize all diagnostic and therapeutic alternatives
including the performance of surgery, the prescription of drugs,
the provision of physical therapy, and the use of many advanced
technologies. The instructional program, therefore, is designed
to prepare the podiatric graduate with a thorough general medical
education with additional focused education and training in podiatric
biomechanics, podiatric medicine, and podiatric surgery.
