This course allows students to pursue their special interests. This may include writing of abstracts or a review of current vision science literature. This may be repeated for credit with permission of the instructor.
Ocular Prosthetics & Contact Lens Special Topics Workshop
This workshop emphasizes the hands–on aspect of understanding and becoming proficient with the more specialized designs of contact lenses and ocular prosthetic devices and techniques. The areas covered will include the techniques for fitting and handling of astigmatism (toric) gas permeable contact lenses, gas permeable multifocal (bifocal) contact lenses, orthokeratology/corneal reshaping contact lenses, hybrid contact lenses, large diameter/mini scleral contact lenses and the fitting, fabrication and modification of ocular prosthetic contact lenses, shell eyes and reform eyes.
Spanish for Optometric Eye Exams
Students develop basic communication skills in Spanish. This course emphasizes the vocabulary associated with the optometric examination. This course is for students with minimal knowledge of the Spanish language.
Fourth Year Clinical Skills Enhancement
Individualized supervised clinical experiences to enhance the examination skills of students are the focus of this course.
