Third year (spring quarter) and fourth year students will participate in clinical rotations. Clinical experiences will consist of rotations within the veterinary teaching hospital, university supervised ambulatory rotations, required outside rotations, and externship/elective rotations.  There are 9 core (required) clinical rotations and a required senior presentation.  These required courses account for 55 credits hours.  Students must also complete 30 credit hours of elective rotations/courses to complete the clinical component of the curriculum. Elective rotations/ externships may be done at private veterinary clinics/ hospitals, research institutions, military institutions, other veterinary teaching hospitals, or at the MWU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. To be eligible for academic credit, elective rotation schedules must be planned with the assistance of and approval by, the appropriate faculty member and/or the Curriculum Committee.

Four (4) weeks of time (not for credit) may be scheduled during the clinical component of the curriculum as vacation, interview time, board study or test taking time. This time off cannot be scheduled during a required block or rotation.
