Clinical Refresher Course

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this course, physicians will reinforce their knowledge with updates to:

• Cite recent updates in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Apply information regarding medical informatics and electronic medical record keeping.
• Learn and demonstrate various osteopathic manipulative treatments.
• Cite current infectious disease treatment options for MRSA, H1N1 Virus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, recommendations for antibiotic use and misuse, and travel medicine recommendations.
• Diagnose depression and recognize current therapyrecommendations.
• Explain Medicare reimbursement.
• Evaluate patient with abdominal pain.
• Identify emergency and non-emergency eye conditions.
• Recommend diabetes treatment.
• Identify and treat headaches.
• Describe appropriate Holter monitoring.
• List longevity recommendations.
• Identify recreational drugs, street names, and presentation in ER.
• Understand CT patterns for Interstitial Lung Disease.

Audience

This program was designed for Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Hospitalists, P.A.'s and other D.O. physicians seeking category 1-A AOA-approved continuing medical education credit.

CME Credits

Physician CME Credit

The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) of Midwestern University is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to present continuing medical education programs for physicians. CCOM designates this program for 21.5 credits in category 1A of the AOA pending approval and 21.5 credits in category 1 of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) through St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Physician Assistant CME Credit

PAs may submit hours for a maximum of 21 credits. MWU/CHS PA alumni are invited to participate in all or any of the CME Program to meet with former classmates while continuing your education.
