The Downers Grove Campus region of the MWU/OPTI includes 14 Participating Partner institutions offering 34 distinct graduate medical education programs. The Downers Grove Campus region of the MWU/OPTI benefits from the optimization of faculty development, library services, and research mentorship realized through the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in conjunction with the training programs of the MWU/OPTI’s Participating Partners. All Participating Partner programs benefit in turn from their membership on the regional MWU/OPTI Graduate Medical Education Committees, which are collaborative groups of educational leaders sharing their best practices in postgraduate clinical education.

All training programs are active members of the MWU/OPTI, and they offer their educational curricula at diverse groups of hospitals in urban and suburban settings. Multiple dually accredited (AOA and ACGME) programs are also offered in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine in the Downers Grove Campus region.
Midwestern University/OPTI has a long and proud history of providing a "continuum of education" that is integral to the University's lifelong learning initiatives. The Chicago area and Northwest Indiana areas have been home to osteopathic postgraduate training for over 100 years, and many well-developed programs have been established throughout the region. It offers specialty, subspecialty, and fellowship training in many disciplines.
The Midwestern University/OPTI actively seeks ambulatory facilities, community health centers, and managed care organizations that will offer wide-ranging learning experiences for its interns and residents. These educational resources each participate in the OPTI through the execution of an affiliation agreement.
