Midwestern University's Chicago College of Pharmacy is celebrating 20 years of excellence in pharmacy education throughout 2011. The College, founded in 1991, educates and graduates competent and motivated pharmacists who provide pharmaceutical care in a wide range of settings. The anniversary year will consist of events, receptions, and a special 20th anniversary scholarship fund.
"The College has achieved so much in the past 20 years, it is time to set aside some time to reflect on our achievements and to look ahead to the next 20 years," comments Nancy Fjortoft, Ph.D., Dean of the Chicago College of Pharmacy. "The College will continue to grow in terms of its national reputation, through the work of its faculty, alumni, and students. Curricular innovation will continue, and the use of more technology will be embedded in our activities. The one thing we will not change is our focus on teaching and providing our students with an educational experience that serves as a foundation for the rest of their professional lives," Dr. Fjortoft added.
During its 20-year history more than 2,500 students have earned a pharmacy degree from the Chicago College of Pharmacy and begun successful and rewarding careers. The Chicago College of Pharmacy is one of four academic colleges located on the Downers Grove Campus of Midwestern University.
