Glories of the Holidays Concert December 6th

GLENDALE, ARIZONA (November 23, 2009)—Celebrate the “Glories of the Holidays” at a free holiday concert at Midwestern University (MWU) on Sunday afternoon, December 6th, featuring the Arizona Winds Premier Concert Band. The concert begins at 2:30 pm in Ocotillo Hall on MWU’s campus, located at 19555 North 59th Avenue in Glendale (just South of the Loop 101). Doors will open at 2:00 pm.

The Arizona Winds was founded in 1974 by John Thrasher, former Director of Bands for Glendale Community College. The band features musicians from around the Valley and is known for its high level of performance and audience-appealing style. A member of the Association of Concert Bands, the Arizona Winds continues to expand on its long history of fine musical performances throughout the Southwest, attracting music lovers of all ages. Colonel Richard Shelton, retired Air Force Band Squadron Commander and Conductor, is the Music Director and Conductor.

Midwestern University is a graduate degree-granting institution specializing in the health sciences with seven colleges and two campuses. The Illinois campus, located on a 105-acre site in Downers Grove, is home to 2,082 students and three colleges: the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Chicago College of Pharmacy, and the College of Health Sciences. The Arizona campus, located on a 144-acre site in Glendale, is home to 2,079 students and five colleges: the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Pharmacy-Glendale, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona, and the Arizona College of Optometry. The University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
