CVS Caremark recently donated $75,000 to Midwestern University to create a CVS Student Resource Room in Redwood Hall on the Downers Grove Campus. The resource room will provide a dedicated space for student leaders from all the University's academic programs to conduct meetings and develop plans for their organization.

"We have many relationships with pharmacy schools across the country as part of our commitment to support the next generation of pharmacists and their role in improving the health of their patients," said Papatya Tankut, R.Ph., Vice President of Pharmacy Professional Services for CVS Caremark. "Having a dedicated pharmacy resource center at Midwestern University where students in all disciplines can come together, share their best practices, and learn leadership skills will allow them to be more successful members of the healthcare team when they graduate."

The gift was a fitting end to a yearlong celebration of Midwestern University's Chicago College of Pharmacy's 20th anniversary. "CVS Caremark is a wonderful partner for the University and we are grateful that they decided to honor us with the very important gift of a student resource room during the 20th anniversary year of the Chicago College of Pharmacy," said Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University.

Student groups who will use the room include the Midwestern University Student Senate, the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Government Association, the Chicago College of Pharmacy Executive Student Council, the College of Health Sciences Executive Student Council, and the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois Executive Student Council.
"Through CVS Caremark's generous gift, our student organizations will be able to use the Student Resource Center to improve the development of future healthcare leaders, the community, and our campus," said Scott Snyder, a third year pharmacy student and student council president. "The new Student Resource Center is where we plan and organize events such as annual health fair, which serves and benefits hundreds of people in our community by offering free health screenings and flu shots."
