AZ: Midwestern University Appoints Interim Program Director of Physician Assistant Program

Alison C. EssaryKathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison C. Essary, M.H.P.E., PA-C, to the position of Interim Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program in the College of Health Sciences on its Glendale Campus. Ms. Essary has been a full-time faculty member in the Physician Assistant Program since 2002 and Associate Director since 2008.

Ms. Essary is a well-published author and leader in the Physician Assistant profession, serving as chair of two major committees in the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA).  She also serves on the editorial board for the PAEA Journal and received the Rising Star award from the PAEA in 2007.  Ms. Essary will assume the responsibilities of Interim Program Director as of March 7.

Ms. Essary follows the leadership of Kevin Lohenry, Ph.D. Under Dr. Lohenry's direction, the Physician Assistant program expanded, underwent two full accreditation self studies and two very positive site visits, and achieved greater national recognition while maintaining excellent student scores on the certification exam.
