IL: MWU Appoints New Director of Clinical Psychology Program

Midwestern University (MWU), is pleased to announce the appointment of Arthur Freeman, Ed.D., Sc.D., ABPP, as director of the Clinical Psychology doctoral degree program on the Downers Grove Campus. As part of his responsibilities, Dr. Freeman will oversee the Clinical Psychology program which integrates theory, research, professional practice, and training to provide an excellent education for a variety of careers in clinical psychology.

"Dr. Freeman brings to the program a deep understanding of the clinical psychology curriculum, an in-depth knowledge of clinical education, and the essential integration of clinical expertise with theoretical knowledge," said Jacquelyn M. Smith, Ph.D. Dean of MWU's College of Health Sciences.

Prior to his appointment at Midwestern University, Dr. Freeman was the founding chair of the Psychology Department at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he oversaw doctoral and masters' degree programs in clinical psychology, school psychology, counseling, and clinical health psychology. In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Freeman has served in professional organizations as the president of the Association for Behavior and Cognitive Therapies, president of the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, and vice-president of the American Board of Behavioral Psychology. He is a nationally recognized scholar, publishing extensively in the area of cognitive behavior therapy. Before stepping into this new role, Dr. Freeman had been a guest lecturer for the Clinical Psychology Department and has mentored several MWU students in their practicum experience at Sheridan Shores Care and Rehabilitation Center where he was the Chief Psychologist and Director of Training.

Dr. Freeman earned his undergraduate and masters' degrees from New York University and his doctoral degree from Columbia University. Dr. Freeman is board-certified in clinical psychology, behavioral psychology and family psychology.
