Runners gather at Midwestern University for the start of the annual St. Jude Chicago to Peoria Run to benefit childhood cancer research.

More than just a physical challenge, each step of St. Jude Chicago to Peoria run provides hope for children battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The annual run will kick off from the Downers Grove Campus of Midwestern University, 555 31st Street, at 8 AM on Friday, August 6, 2010. The event, part of a nationwide effort, raises funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the largest childhood cancer research center in the world.

This is the 12th year that Midwestern University has hosted the start of the run to downtown Peoria, located approximately 30 foot-hours and 160 miles southwest of the campus. Since 1982, the runs have raised more than $20 million for research and to aid children undergoing treatment at St. Jude. Last year, the Chicago to Peoria Run raised $330,000 for the St. Jude's kids.
