Vance D. Powell, Jr., D.O. FACOOG, FAODME is the Director of Medical Education at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He is a graduate of The Virginia Military Institute, served six years of active duty, two in Viet Nam, in the Army Medical Service Corps. Following active duty he went to graduate school at Fairleigh Dickinson University prior to matriculating at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served his Internship and then residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Botsford General Hospital. After completion of the residency in 1980 he went in to private practice as well as assuming the position of Assistant DME. He became the Director of Medical Education six months later and has remained in that position to this day as well as maintaining his OB/GYN practice. He has served two terms as President of AODME, is currently a member of the Board of AODME, as well as two terms as President of MAODME, and is currently the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Michigan State University-State Wide Campus System .
He has a LEGITIMATE golf handicap of 18!
