Program Description: Competitive scholarship offered through the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians based on financial need and letters of recommendation

APMA Stephen L. Barrett, DPM Scholarship

Eligible Disciplines: 3rd- and 4th-year Podiatric Medical Students Only

Program Description: The scholarship shall be awarded in the fall to one or more Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program student in their third or fourth year at Midwestern University, providing that sufficient income and qualified students exist.

Eligibility: All 3rd- and 4th-year students attending the Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program. Preference shall be granted to students with financial need and academic excellence, who have demonstrated leadership involvement and podiatric community service.

Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program

Eligible Disciplines: Osteopathic Medicine, College of Dental Medicine - AZ (Army, Navy, Air Force), Podiatry - AZ (Navy Only), and Pharmacy Students (Air Force Only)

Program Description: Competitive scholarship offered through the Army, Navy, and Air Force based on academic performance and recommendations

The Johnson & Johnson Wound Management Scholarship

Eligible Disciplines: 3rd year AZPOD student.

Program Description: The scholarship shall be awarded in the fall to one or more Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program students in their third year at Midwestern University, providing that sufficient income and qualified students exist. Students may receive the Johnson & Johnson Wound Management Scholarship in more than one year. The Financial Aid Committee shall review the students qualifying for the scholarship and elect the final recipient(s).

Award Amount: Varies (up to $1,000)

Eligibility: All 3rd students attending the Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program. Preference shall be granted to a student who has demonstrated knowledge of and appreciation for the challenges of acute and chronic wound healing.

Condition of Award: The scholarship may be used only for tuition, books, and other expenses directly related to the students' academic programs (housing, meals, and other non-academic expenses should not be covered by the scholarship). The scholarship will not be awarded directly to students; instead, it will be used to reduce or completely cover the amount the student(s) owe(s) to the Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program for academic expenses. Johnson & Johnson leaves it to MWU to decide the amount of the award(s) and how many students will receive a scholarship annually.

Medtronic Physio-Control Advanced Nursing Practice

Program Description: Nurse Anesthesia scholarship offered through the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation

Award Amount: Up to $3,000

Application Requirements/Description: This scholarship is awarded to a nurse pursuing an advanced clinical practice degree to become a nurse practitioner or clinical specialist. Applicants must be ENA members for one year before applying.

MWU Need-Based Scholarship

Eligible Disciplines: All Programs

Program Description: Awarded to students who demonstrate the most significant financial need as determined by their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must meet MWU's priority financial aid deadline date in order to be considered for eligibility. MWU's goal is to award between $150,000 and $300,000 each year in non-renewable institutional scholarships to students from each of the University's three colleges with funding provided by the University's School-As-Lender program. Future amounts and availability of funding will depend upon market conditions. MWU Need-Based Scholarship, if available, are in addition to scholarships historically awarded at MWU.

Eligible Disciplines: Dental Students, Osteopathic Medical Students and Physician Assistant Students

Program Description: Competitive scholarship offered through the Public Health Service

Eligibility: U.S. citizens that physically qualify must be enrolled at an approved accredited college.

Dr. Stanley Pearle Scholarship Fund

Eligible Disciplines: Optometry Students Only

Eligibility: Students enrolled in a fully accredited college or university that is an Approved Educational Institution pursuing full-time graduate studies in an optometry program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association ("ACOE"). Limited to students in graduating in 2011, 2012, or 2013.

Eligible Disciplines: Third-Year Podiatric Medical Students Only

Program Description: This scholarship was established for the benefit of third year podiatry students attending the Glendale, Arizona campus who have actively participated in community service activities and have demonstrated leadership qualities. This scholarship fund was developed as a result of funding provided by the Podiatry Insurance Company of America (PICA).

Eligible Disciplines: Podiatric Medical Students Only

Eligibility: Must be a resident of North Carolina; a third or 4th year podiatric student in good standing at a podiatry school. The scholarship committee will consider candidates based on need and academics. Only one candidate per year may be nominated.

Award Amount: $5,000

Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE)

Eligible Disciplines: Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Dental Medicine, Optometry, and Podiatry Students Only (Glendale campus only)

Program Description: Professional student exchange program, under which legal residents of western states without a public professional school offering an Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant, Podiatric Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, Optometry or Occupational Therapy program may receive tuition at MWU.

Eligibility: Incoming Osteopathic Medical students who are residents of Arizona, Montana, New Mexico, Washington, or Wyoming. Incoming Physician Assistant students who are residents of Alaska, Arizona, Nevada, or Wyoming. Incoming Pharmacy students who are residents of Alaska, Nevada or Hawaii. Incoming Occupational Therapy students who are residents of Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, or Wyoming. Incoming Dental students who are residents of Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming. Incoming Optometry students who are residents of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Incoming Podiatry students who are residents of Alaska, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Funding is provided only to incoming students. Podiatry Foundation of Pittsburgh Scholarship

Eligible Disciplines: Podiatric Medical Students Only

Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to first year, second year, third year, and fourth year applicants with a permanent address in the Western Pennsylvania area prior to applying to Podiatry school.  The goal of the Foundation is to promote education, grants, and scholarships to residents of the Western Pennsylvania area.

Award Amount: First Place: $10,000-$15,000; Second Place: $7,500-10,000;             Third Place: $3,000-$7,500

Renewal Information: Scholarships are available on an annual recurring basis.

Condition of Award:

1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, or 4th year podiatry students from the state of Pennsylvania (a scholarship for each year is available)

Copy of most recent transcript- must have 3.0 gpa to apply
