Midwestern University is excited to announce that we are expanding the class size for the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine from 145 to 250 students starting this Fall of 2008.

In talking with friends and colleagues the past few weeks, it seems like many people got a new Wii game for the holidays. People shared tips for virtual bowling and bragged about their prowess at virtual boxing. We hypothesized about ways in which this new technology could be used in medical education. Then, lo and behold in the Phoenix newspaper last week was an article about a group of surgeons using their Wii to hone their skills.

When I was little, the best thing about the holidays was opening the presents on Christmas morning. I don't think I knew what a "resolution" was, much less did I ever make them as a kid. Now that I'm much older, it seems the reverse is true: the presents mean little and the resolutions become more important.

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of the usual holiday activities at both of our campuses. While our students have been busy studying and taking final exams, the faculty and staff have been celebrating in many ways.

Last weekend, the MWU Alumni Senate met on the Downers Grove Campus to discuss the findings from a recent alumni survey and to make plans for a travel CME program. In addition, they discussed the activities of their respective alumni associations and heard updates about the University.
