Last week, about 25 members of the Glendale Alumni Leadership Council met with 12 MWU deans, faculty, and alumni staff to discuss various aspects of interdisciplinary learning at MWU, including the CORE course, the new clinic, and service learning.
The MWU Alumni Senate includes representatives from all of our colleges and truly reflects what makes our academic community unique--a team of diverse health care professionals working together as a team.
The past two weeks have been busy with major campus events. We recently hosted the 60th Annual Ward Perrin Clinical Refresher Course and CCOM Alumni Reunion Weekend in Chicago. Then, this past weekend was the Bright Lights, Shining Stars Gala at the Glendale Campus. Both events gave us opportunities to recognize important people at our University.
If you ask any of our students what they like about MWU, I would venture that nearly all would say that it is our outstanding faculty and their abililty to teach. We are proud to be a University committed to teaching the next generation of health care professionals. We are also proud to be able to support our students' and faculty's interest in research. To that end, we have established the Kenneth A. Suarez Summer Research Program, which provides funding for medical students to pursue their research interests during their summer break.
MWU has recently completed its self-study document for its Higher Learning Commission accreditation visit in January of 2008. More than 100 faculty, staff, and students participated in criterion committees that evaluated the University and made recommendations. As a result of this process, the University recently adopted a new mission and vision.
