A blog by Karen Johnson, Ph.D., Vice President of University Relations
As the principal writer for the Office of Communications on the Downers Grove Campus of Midwestern University, I can tell you with some degree of confidence that folks here probably get tired of reading “my voice” in the many articles I pen for our award-winning campus newspaper, the Vital Signs. With this being the week of my seven-year anniversary (January 2) as an MWU writer, I thought it a good opportunity to share excerpts from four of my favorite medical student contributions. Their messages stayed with me long after each issue of the newspaper had gone to press.
I hope you all had a healthy and happy new year's celebration and are off to a great start in 2007. As this is the time for the inevitable resolutions, I thought I would share a few of mine.
All of our students are on break, and although the University has been open the past two days, there isn't much going on. So, as promised, here are my reviews on this season's holiday movies...for whatever they're worth.
Today, I took my (formerly) long-haired tortoise-shell cat, named Bailey, to the groomer.
This week we held our annual Faculty/Staff Holiday Luncheon on the Glendale Campus. One of the traditions is that groups of faculty and staff will get together and sing holiday songs to the crowd. Dr. G encourages this as a way for the singers to ensure that they will increase their chances of winning a holiday raffle gift. The Glendale folks have embraced this.
