Last week was very hectic yet exciting at MWU. As at every school and in everyone's life, there is always a flurry of activity at year's end, with parties, vacations, and gift exchanges. Last week was especially busy at MWU because we hosted our Board of Trustees for their annual December meeting at our Downers Grove Campus. Following the Board meeting, we held our annual Holiday Reception.

Yesterday on the Downers Grove Campus, the President hosted the annual Faculty/Staff Holiday Luncheon. Today's entry is a third-person account of this event written by our Director of Admissions, Michael Laken. It just goes to show, holiday wishes do come true.

Today's entry comes from a guest blogger, Lois Fehse, the Manager of Development from the Office of Development & Alumni Relations in Downers Grove. It is always gratifying to see students succeed in our programs and go on to become practitioners. We often encounter our "former" students in our local hospitals, physician's offices, pharmacies, and therapy centers. Lois had these same types of experiences when she worked in a hospital in her previous career.

Chicago got hit with a fairly bad snowstorm yesterday. The biggest problem, for me at least, was that O'Hare was basically closed down. I was scheduled to fly out yesterday morning to Phoenix so I could participate in the White Coat Ceremony on the Glendale Campus. My first flight was cancelled, my second flight was cancelled; so I ended up going home and heading to the movie theatre.

Private health care education is not cheap. We believe the costs are well justified by the value received. This year and next, Midwestern University will contribute more than $1.5 million to our Need-Based Scholarship Program.
