This week, Dr. G hosted holiday luncheons for the faculty and staff of both MWU campuses. These events allow the entire campus community to come together and celebrate the season. After a delicious meal, a raffle of gifts is held, with the Administrative Team passing out the prizes to the winners.
Each year at our annual Holiday Reception, Dr. Goeppinger selects an alumnus to recognize for his/her lifelong service to MWU. Last Friday, we were privileged to honor Dr. Louis Gierke, CCOM Class of 1957 and longtime Chair of the Department of Pathology and Residency Program Director.
Last Friday, the White Coat Ceremony for the 700+ first-year students on the Glendale Campus was held in the new Auditorium Building. And, when I say "new," I mean that this was literally the first event ever held in this impressive facility.
When I was little, I wanted to be a vet. While that didn't end up being my career, with two dogs and two cats, I am a frequent consumer of veterinary services. With my August addition to the family of Sarah, the 3-year-old golden retriever rescue, I think I'm going to have my hands full for some time.
MWU recently announced an exciting new partnership with USA Basketball and the City of Glendale, whereby we will develop a sports medicine clinic for the new Olympic Basketball training facility here in Arizona.
