There is never a "good" time to get sick, but the holidays are definitely a bad time. I was reminded of this over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, when my mother had to go to the ER for a nosebleed. I was also reminded of all of the wonderful health care providers who do have to work on holidays.
This week, MWU hosted Thanksgiving breakfasts for our faculty and staff at both campuses (Downers Grove on Monday; Glendale on Thursday). These much-anticipated annual gatherings are a wonderful celebration of the MWU family.
More than 25 members of the MWU family headed to Napa Valley the first weekend of November for the inaugural MWU Alumni Senate Interdisciplinary Symposium. The academic program on Metabolic Syndrome was excellent, and the group had a wonderful time exploring wine country.
MWU recently headed to Las Vegas for the annual meeting of the American Osteopathic Association. This national conference provides CME courses, leadership meetings for our students, a research competition for our students and faculty, and many opportunities for us to reconnect with our alumni.
Last Saturday evening, MWU held its annual Bright Lights, Shining Stars Gala at our Glendale Campus. More than 500 guests attended to celebrate the community and our commitment to service. Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill was honored with the COMET Award, Kristin Parrack received the Shooting Star, and nine MWU students earned Spirit of Service Scholarships.
