IOMS leaders and Midwestern University CCOM students pose with Illinois State Representative Marcus C. Evans Jr. at the State Capital building.
Representatives from Midwestern University's Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) recently traveled to the Illinois Statehouse to advocate for the osteopathic profession. Student members of the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society (IOMS), CCOM faculty, and students met with legislative leaders as part of the IOMS Lobby Day 2017.
While in Springfield, CCOM students and faculty received updates on the potential impact of the proposed changes to the Affordable Care Act on patients and the healthcare system in the state. They also discussed legislation currently proposed in the Illinois House and Senate and the impact these bills could have on patients' access to quality healthcare. The group then met with key Senators and members of the House of Representatives to outline these issues.
