Over 200 local Arizona kids received nearly $29,000 worth of free dental care from CDMA students at Give Kids a Smile.
On Saturday, October 19, Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine-Arizona hosted Give Kids a Smile, part of the nationwide initiative to provide children with much-needed dental care at no cost to families.
Give Kids a Smile took place at the Midwestern University Dental Institute at the University’s Glendale Campus, with 180 CDMA students volunteering to provide care and education. Over 200 patients aged 6 to 14 received free screenings and treatments including cleanings, sealants, fillings, and extractions – more than 720 procedures representing nearly $29,000 worth of free dental care. The students also provided families with important information on proper oral health maintenance and disease prevention.
The Midwestern University Give Kids a Smile program is presented by Midwestern University’s American Student Dental Association and is one of several CDMA initiatives providing free dental services and education to community members in need.
