About

While more research related to the concepts of death/ dying have emerged of late, there continues to be a scarce amount of information in this area related to the clinical applications of appropriate bereavement care models.  Of note, those models which combine the context of bereavement care along with companioning the individual thorough to meaning reconstruction.  This consists of companioning the bereaved on their journey and realizing that for true catharsis to happen, it must come from within them rather than from what a therapist/ doctor/ other has told them?  My primary research interests lie in traumatic death, particularly when a parent has experienced the death of a child in addition to Gerontology.

Quote: "What's wrong with death, sir? What are we so mortally afraid of? Why can't we treat death with a certain amount of humanity and dignity, and decency, and God forbid, maybe even humor.  Death is not the enemy gentlemen.  If we're going to fight a disease, let's fight one of the most terrible diseases of all, indifference."  Robin Williams (Patch Adams)
