Research
HIV Pharmacotherapy: Patients who are living with HIV are often excluded from clinical trials. There is usually a lack of clinical evidence regarding these patients for certain disease states and HIV medications often interact with other disease states or maintenance medications. These projects focus on collecting evidence of how outcomes for patients living with HIV might differ from those not living with HIV.
Drug Shortages: Many times when there is a drug shortage, an alternative medication must be used. This alternative agent may have less efficacy and/or more toxic effects. These projects collect evidence regarding patients that received alternatives when the drug of choice during a drug shortage was unavailable. As the issue of drug shortages is unlikely to resolve in the near future, it is imperative that intuitions have management and ethics protocols. These projects may include surveys of drug shortage mitigation or "how-to" documents to disseminate appropriate management techniques of shortages.
