RESEARCH SUMMARY

I have an interest in orthopedics and have been involved with classifying conditions of the hip according to the framework for the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).  Colleagues and I have addressed conservative treatment options for osteoarthritis of the hip, which was published in the Topics in Geriatric Rehabilitation. With a background in education I have an interest in finding the effects on learning and benefits for success in the classroom. I have also developed an interest in working with people who have had lower extremity amputations, analyzing gait and the effects of rehabilitation.

RESEARCH

Project I:  Determine the effect of rehabillitation for a person with a transfemoral or transtibial amputation.

Project II: Revising and updating guidelines for Non-arthritic Hip Joint Pain: Clinical Practice Guidelines linked to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, from the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy.

Project III:  Determine the effects on learning and success in the classroom using self-assessment tools
