The Resident and Fellow Section of the American Medical Association will provide students with information on choosing a medical specialty, finding available residencies or fellowships, and applying for a residency.

American Osteopathic Association: Opportunities

Developed to provide the most up to date and complete information on osteopathic internship and residency programs.

CareerMD is a current, comprehensive and centralized source of information on training and employment opportunities for new physicians. Updated daily by program directors and employers,'s searchable databases make it easy to locate, research and compare opportunities in every state and every specialty. Osteopathic residencies are also included.

ERAS: The Electronic Residency Application Service

ERAS is a service which transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean's Letters/MSPE, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from medical schools to residency program directors using the internet.


FindAResident is a search tool to help find open residency and fellowship positions. This resource can give direct contact with the programs looking to fill these positions. Offered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), FindAResident supplements the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and can help with finding unfilled positions--especially with unsuccessful matches from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) or Scramble.


Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database (FREIDA) Online is a database with over 7,800 graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), as well as over 200 combined specialty programs.

National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)

NRMP is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in Graduate Medical Education (GME). Each year, the NRMP conducts a match that is designed to optimize the rank ordered choices of students and program directors. In the third week of March, the results of the match are announced.


The purpose of is providing a one-stop & free resource on the internet for all physicians-in-training. Founded in 1999 by residents, is dedicated to providing its users with the tools, resources and means to enrich their experience as physicians-in-training and prepare them for the future.
