Clinically based research to improve patient outcomes. My research interests include evaluation of available treatments as it pertains to effective patient outcomes. There is a need for research to allow physicians to offer patients treatment options based on both clinical decision and evidence based treatment options.

Project I
In conjunction with the College of Veterinary Medicine, we will be evaluating the efficacy of a bone stimulator in canine bone healing. The primary objective of this study is to assess the clinical efficacy of a bone stimulator following TPLO surgery as measured by the radiographic healing and range of motion in the stifle joint over the 2.5 month study period.  The secondary objective is to determine if using a bone growth stimulator in a postoperative setting for canines who undergo a TPLO for repair of the cranial cruciate ligament can decrease osteoarthritic changes to the stifle joint.

Project II
In conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul, we are evaluating the effectiveness of total contact casts in treating plantar foot ulcers and Charcot neuroarthropathy. The objectives include time of closure of the ulcer, cost effectiveness of treatment and overall patient satisfaction.
