Midwestern University will offer a new Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biomedical Science degree program on the University's Downers Grove Campus. The one-year program, slated to start in fall 2011, is designed for students with a bachelor's degree who wish to improve their academic foundation and science credentials for admission into medical, dental, or pharmacy school, or other health professional programs.
Students in the new program will complete a minimum of 45 quarter credit hours, including required coursework in physiology, immunology, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, and anatomy. Electives include courses in such topics as cardiovascular pharmacology, research techniques, and alternative therapies.
Midwestern University also offers a Master of Biomedical Science (M.B.S.) degree, which is a two-year research-based program.
