On Saturday, October 21, 2017, Midwestern University's College of Dental Medicine-Arizona will host Super Sealant Saturday, a student-organized community service event to benefit local children.

Super Sealant Saturday will take place from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and will be held at the Midwestern University Dental Institute at 5855 West Utopia Road in Glendale. Approximately 200 children ages four to 13 will receive free screenings, cleanings, and molar sealants from dental students under the supervision of licensed dental faculty. Kids and their families will also receive important information on proper oral health maintenance and disease prevention. Availability is by appointment only via online registration. Click here to register.

What are tooth sealants? Tooth sealants (dental sealants) are plastic coatings that are bonded into the grooves of teeth to help prevent cavities. The coatings create a smoother, easier-to-clean surface on the tooth and help ward off decay. Sealants can be applied as early as age 6, when molars make their appearance.

Why is Super Sealant Saturday such a great event? Because sealants can typically cost between $35 to $60 per tooth at a regular dental office - which makes the free Super Sealant Saturday event a great deal for kids and parents!

The Midwestern University Super Sealant Saturday program is presented by Midwestern University's American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and is part of a nationwide initiative to provide children with much-needed dental care.
