Naperville resident Anil Gulati, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research and Professor at Midwestern University's Chicago College of Pharmacy, is a co-recipient of the Ranbaxy Research Award in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr. Gulati received the award jointly with Dr. Arabinda Chaudhuri of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, in Hyderabad, India. Dr. Gulati will accept the award on March 19th at the annual Ranbaxy Science Foundation Symposium in New Delhi. The award will be presented by Jan-Ake Gustafsson, M.D., PhD, professor and chairman of biosciences and nutrition at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and formerly the chairman of the Nobel Assembly of the Karolinska Institutet responsible for selecting the laureates for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
A Fulbright Scholar for 2008-2009, Dr. Gulati is currently teaching at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Mohali, India. He specializes in pharmaceutical development and has published more than 250 research papers, filed 17 patent applications, and licensed several of his technologies to various pharmaceutical companies.
The Ranbaxy Science Foundation, based in India, created the research awards to recognize outstanding original contributions in the fields of medical and pharmaceutical sciences. The Ranbaxy Science foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting scientific endeavors on subjects connected with the treatment of diseases afflicting mankind.
