CDMA students provides free dental services to Arizona veterans at a similar event in March.

On December 3rd, faculty and students from the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona (CDMA), in partnership with Aspen Dental, will spend the day providing free dental screenings and routine cleanings to veterans in need.

The event will take place at the Aspen Dental office at 17018 W. Bell Road in Surprise in coordination with the Aspen Dental MouthMobile, a 42-foot mobile dental office. Midwestern faculty practitioners and dental students will join Aspen dentists to provide services to veterans in conjunction with the U.S. Veterans Initiative (USVETS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides transitional and permanent housing, financial assistance, outreach and counseling, and workforce related activities for veterans across the Valley.

Third- and fourth-year CDMA students - several of whom currently attend Midwestern University on military scholarships - will meet with veterans to identify their chief complaints, prescribe radiographs, and determine necessary treatment to address any pain or tooth decay. A previous event held in March provided over $20,000 worth of dental services, from basic fillings and cleanings to extractions and delivery of removable prostheses.

Appointments are available, and interested veterans who would like to make an appointment should call Rachelle Dorsey at 623-214-1708, and press option 2.
