Midwestern University's Chicago College of Pharmacy recently established an early assurance program with Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan. The Pre-Pharmacy Advantage Program will begin in the fall of 2019 for students who have graduated high school and enroll at Henry Ford College, a public college with two campuses in Dearborn. The agreement with Henry Ford College is similar to the Chicago College of Pharmacy's other early assurance programs with several universities and colleges.

The Pre-Pharmacy Advantage (PPA) Program provides students who are motivated to become pharmacists with a clear and cost-effective path to achieving their goal directly out of high school. Students may apply for admittance into the program during their senior year in high school or in their first semester at Henry Ford College.

"This partnership with Henry Ford College is a great addition to our successful early assurance programs. The pharmacy profession is continuing to expand and evolve with the changes in healthcare. The field offers challenging opportunities in a variety of practice settings that allow pharmacists to help people live healthier, better lives," said Nancy Fjortoft, Ph.D., Dean and Professor, Chicago College of Pharmacy at Midwestern University.

Upon completion of all pre-requisite coursework, as well as satisfactory performance on the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT), students will transition into Midwestern University's Chicago College of Pharmacy to begin a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy program. At the end of six years, the successful student will earn a Pharm.D. degree enabling them to embark on an exciting career in this healthcare field.
