More than 50 Midwestern University students and faculty members participated in a run in honor of those impacted by the Boston Marathon tragedy.  Kristin Dement, a third-year medical student at Midwestern University, organized the run on Monday, April 22nd to promote unity following the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

Ms. Dement ran the Boston marathon along with her husband, a classmate, and other friends. "It was an incredibly emotional day for all who were involved but nothing can compare to the feelings and emotions of those who were directly affected by the injuries and tragic fatalities that occurred," Ms. Dement said.

"My heart is aching for all those families and loved ones. The only way that I and the rest of the running community can think of to best conquer this awful time is to keep running. Keep running for those who have fallen victim to this senseless tragedy. Keep running for the amazing sport that marathon running is. Keep running for the incredible spectators who supported us that day. Run for Boston," she added.

Members of the Midwestern University community were encouraged to wear clothing associated with Boston and were given blue and gold ribbons - the official colors of this year's Boston Marathon - prior to the run.
