AZ: Midwestern University Appoints Dr. Brian Sidaway as Dean of New College of Veterinary Medicine

Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, Midwestern University, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian K. Sidaway, D.V.M., M.S., DACVS, as Dean of the new Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine slated to open in Fall 2014.

Dr. Sidaway has served as Associate Dean of the College since June 2012.  He has been instrumental in obtaining State of Arizona licensure for the new program, as well as completing a comprehensive self-study and initiating curriculum development.  

"Dr. Sidaway has won the respect and admiration of all of us since he began here last June," said Dr. Goeppinger. "He has the skills, enthusiasm, and work ethic that are shared by all members of this academic community, and we look forward to working with him to develop this important new College."

Dr. Sidaway, a native of Biloxi, Mississippi, is a former Director of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association and has 15 years of veterinary practice and education experience across five states. Prior to his arrival at Midwestern, Dr. Sidaway practiced as a veterinary surgeon in Louisiana, where he also served as a consultant and surgeon at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.  He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mississippi State University and received the prestigious Pegasus Award as the Veterinary College's most outstanding graduate in 1998.

The Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine will welcome its inaugural class of 100 students in August of 2014, and will be the first and only school offering the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree in the state of Arizona.
