Midwestern University (MWU) announces the appointment of Yir Gloria Yueh, Ph.D., as the new Chair of the Department of Biochemistry at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine(AZCOM.)Since 1997, Dr. Yueh has served in various roles at MWU, including Assistant Professor of Basic Science and Associate Professor of Biochemistry. Originally from Taiwan, she received a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Connecticut. After completing her studies in Connecticut, she completed a research fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
During her career at MWU, Dr. Yueh has achieved numerous teaching and research accomplishments. She has received several awards from MWU students, including Best Lecture Notes Teaching Award in 2007, and Being-an-Outstanding-Educator Teaching Award in 2002. She was also selected for inclusion in the 2006/2007 edition of Who's Who Among American Teachers. Dr. Yueh has published several articles on genetics and metabolic diseases, and has presented at over a dozen scientific conferences. She is a member of the International Association of Medical Science Educators, the Society for
Developmental Biology, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. Dr. Yueh has also been an outstanding research mentor throughout her career.
She continues to serve on multiple committees, including the MWU Faculty Senate and the AZCOM Dean's Council Committee. Since 2007, she has also been a member of the curriculum committee for the Arizona College of Dental Medicine, which opened its doors for the inaugural class this August.
