Midwestern University's College of Dental Medicine-Arizona hosted its first annual Give Kids a Smile program in April in conjunction with the Arizona Dental Association, benefitting local 3rd to 6th grade children and their families. Over 250 children received $96,000 of free dental care from Midwestern faculty and students at the University's Dental Institute in Glendale. Midwestern volunteers also provided a combined 150 hours of informative educational presentations to the children and their families about dental health and disease prevention.
"Thank you so much to all that volunteered for the event. It was a huge success because of the awesome students and doctors we have at Midwestern," said student organizer Brent Woodmansee, a third-year student in the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona. "When speaking with patients and parents, they were thoroughly impressed with the passion our students demonstrated towards educating children about prevention and dentistry."
