Midwestern University will host an open house on Monday, December 17th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon for prospective students interested in learning more about the new Speech-Language Pathology degree program. The University is currently accepting applications for the new Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Speech-Language Pathology and plans to welcome its first class of 40 students in the fall of 2013.

The open house will include an overview of the program, an introduction to the Speech-Language Pathology faculty, information about the admissions process, and a tour of campus. Interested students are asked to RSVP to the open house by calling 630/515-6343 or emailing

Speech-language pathologists are the professional of choice for families whose children experience developmental delays, or individuals who lose their communicative abilities due to accidents, injuries, or disease.  Therapists address the needs of people with communication and swallowing disorders of any age, from infancy through adulthood.  The demand for qualified speech-language pathologists is expected to grow in response to an aging population and growing numbers of children with language and learning problems. Most speech-language pathology programs place 100 percent of their graduates in entry-level jobs within three months of graduation.

The Speech-Language Pathology Program at Midwestern University will provide students with academic, research, and clinical experiences that will ensure their preparedness for a rewarding career. Qualified applicants are required to have earned a bachelor's degree and completed prerequisite communication disorders coursework. The program takes seven quarters, or just under two years, for degree completion.
